Na manhã de hoje os atores Bruce Willis e Mary Louise Parker anunciaram a tão esperada lista dos concorrentes da edição de 2015 do Tony Awards, maior premiação do teatro norte-americano. Os destaques deste ano ficam por conta das indicações de Bradley Cooper, pela atuação na peça “The Elephant Man“, Kristin Chenoweth, pelo musical “On the Twentieth Century” e também pelos esnobados da premiação: “Finding Neverland“, “It Shoulda Be You” e “Doctor Zhivago“, que não conquistaram nenhuma nomeação em alguma categoria.
“An American in Paris“, adaptação do clássico cinematográfico é o espetáculo com o maior número de indicações da temporada – 12, ao todo – incluindo “melhor musical”, título que disputa com “Fun Home” e “Something Rotten!“. A remontagem de “The King and I“, obteve nove nomeações, incluindo “melhor ator em um musical” com Ken Watanabe, e “melhor atriz e um musical”, pela atuação de Kelli O’Hara. A veterana Chita Rivera, conhecida por suas atuações em “Chicago“, “West Side Story” e atual estrela do musical “The Visit” concorre ao lado de Kelli na mesma categoria.
Os homenageados de 2015 serão John Cameron Mitchell, autor de “Hedwig and The Angry Inch” e o compositor Stephen Schwartz, pela sua contribuição à dramaturgia norte-americana. A entrega do Tony Awards será realizada no Radio City Music Hall no dia 7 de junho, com transmissão da CBS.
